Jury Finds Ohio County Man Guilty of Sexually Abusing Mentally Handicapped Woman

WHEELING - Wednesday, a jury found Gerry Barnes, 37, guilty of four counts of sexual assault. Barnes was convicted of two counts of sexual assault in the second degree and two counts of sexual assault in the third degree.

The victim was a 34 year-old woman was a client of Russell Nesbitt Services. Experts say she is mildly mentally retarded, functioning on a third to sixth grade level.

Barnes was denied bond and remains lodged in the Northern Regional Jail. He will be sentenced in September.
