Special Treatment for Lindsay Lohan?

(CANVAS STAFF REPORTS) - Authorities at the jail holding star Lindsay Lohan want to explain one thing. Lohan only got to keep her hair extensions because they weren't coming out, not because she's getting special treatment.

At least they weren't coming out easily, reported the Los Angeles Times . The Times quoted L.A. County jail staff who said they were not removed when she entered the Century Regional Detention Center because they are basically sewn in near her scalp.

Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore told The Times that extensions are removed when they are detachable from the hair, while in Lohan's case they are bonded into her hair.

Lohan is expected to be released next week after serving 13 days of a 90-day sentence for violating probation in a DUI case. According to People's StyleWatch , her term started July 20 and is expected to be reduced because of overcrowding.

The Times said it is a combination of overcrowding and credit for good behavior.

The scrutiny of the jail comes after Paris Hilton allegedly got special treatment at the facility in 2007.

InTouch Weekly said Lohan has to wear an orange jumpsuit and one-size-fits-all "granny panties" that she knots at the sides to keep them from falling down.

An insider told the publication that sleeping is difficult because of the jail's cold temperatures. Lohan, the insider claimed, got a bed instead of a standard thin mattress but only received a thin blanket without a pillow.

There are reports she has received some preferential treatment, including her own television, special phone privileges, extended time with visitors and special food, according to InTouch.
