(MYFOX NATIONAL) - A peaceful demonstration was anything but when police caught ten "naturists" forming a naked peace sign on a public beach in Florida.
The Palm Beach Post reports nine men and one woman, all naked, were found by police last Thursday afternoon on a beach in Delray Beach, Fla. forming a peace sign that was to be seen by air.
The naked clan told police that they planned on having an aerial photo taken of the peace sign. The sign had about a 9 foot span and was going to be a part of the Mid-Winter Naturist Festival at Sunsport Gardens Family Naturist Resort in Loxahatchee Groves, Fla.
This was the 20th year of the festival according to The Orlando Sun Sentinel . Hundreds of people from all over the United States and Canada come to partake in the gathering.
Naturists, or nudists as some call them, are given the opportunity at the gathering to be with others that share their same beliefs and desires to lead a naturist life.
Festival attendee Karen Golec from Ontario said, "It's awesome. I don't often get to naturist resorts because I'm out in the boonies. It's really nice to interact with other people."
The ten naturists have not been arrested yet, but police are recommending that the State Attorneys Office charge them with indecent-exposure according to The Palm Beach Post .
Comments posted about the arrest on the Post were mixed, but most people believe that the naturists shouldn't be charged and that the whole matter is a waste of time.
One reader commented, "Only a close minded society spends police time and tax payer's money chasing peaceful signs. We are born naked; our bodies must never be a sign of shame or embarrassment."
