NBA's George Hill Displays More Than His Jump Shot

(MYFOX NATIONAL) – San Antonio Spurs guard George Hill, a first-round draft pick from 2008, is getting attention for more than his skills on the court.

The Huffington Post reported that the Web site TheDirty.com posted nude photos of the 23-year-old basketball player on its site. Legal attempts to force the site to remove the photos have been anything but a slam dunk.

Basketball Web site SlamOnline.com reported that one of Hill's past girlfriends released 'compromising photos' of him. The San Antonio Express-News reported that the photos were taken sometime last year.

According to the Express News , Spurs legal counsel Bracewall & Giuliani has sent a cease-and-desist letter to TheDirty.com demanding that the photos and references to the Spurs be removed. David Gringas, an attorney representing TheDirty.com and its founder, Nik Richie, has stated that the Spurs' claims the photos were "disseminated illegally and without permission" and broke trademark infringement are without merit.

Gringas wrote in a letter in response to the Spurs' attorneys that the law "does not apply to criticism of celebrities making fools of themselves."

"It goes without saying that many fans see athletes like Mr. Hill as a role model, and I appreciate the desire of the Spurs to keep its image as wholesome as possible," he wrote in the letter printed by the Huffington Post.

"Be that as it may, if the Spurs organization feels that Mr. Hill's conduct is incompatible with its public image, those concerns should be directed at Mr. Hill, not Mr. Richie," he wrote.

Hill apologized for his actions in a statement issued through the Spurs, saying he is willing to "take full responsibility for my actions," according to Express-News .

"I have matured and learned from this episode. I would like to apologize to my girlfriend, my family, all of our great fans and the Spurs organization," he stated.

Hill is the second NBA player to shoot into the spotlight in such a way this year. Celebrity gossip site New York Daily News reported that scandalous photos of Portland Trail Blazers player Greg Oden were leaked in January. Oden issued a similar apology two weeks ago.
